Senior Local Board Clerk
Professional Services - Brighton

Closing date: 30/07/2021

Job posted date: 14/07/2021

Salary: East Sussex Grade 8 - £23,598 - £25,487

Employment type: Permanent

Hours per week: 8.5

Are you an experienced governance professional looking for a new challenge?

We are looking to appoint a Senior Local Board Clerk to provide high-quality administrative support, advice and guidance to ensure that the work of our Local Board volunteers meets all of their responsibilities and strategic aims.

The post-holder will provide clerking support to a small number of the Local Boards supporting our 15 academies both in East and West Sussex. As well as the scheduled Local Board meetings, the successful candidate will also provide support, advice and guidance to panels convened to make decisions on excluding pupils and complaints from members of the community so experience of dealing with these situations would be highly desirable.

Local Boards often meet after academy hours, or in the evening, so flexibility to be able to work twilight/evenings is also a must. This part-time, term-time only role is approved for remote working and there will also be a requirement to travel to academies for pre-arranged meetings.

The successful candidate will be able to manage their own time effectively, be comfortable chasing busy people to ensure deadlines are met and be willing to participate in recruitment activities to attract new volunteers. A flexible approach to working hours is essential, to accommodate the varied schedule of the meetings, as is tact, diplomacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

If you would like to have an informal discussion about this role then please contact Kathryn Smith, Head of Governance and Admissions on 01273 568271 or email k.smith@brightonacademiestrust.org.uk
