Subject Leader for Science (TLR 1c) to start April 2022 or Sept 2022

An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Burgess Hill Academy and we are seeking to appoint an inspirational Subject Leader for Science, who is committed to providing outstanding learning experiences for all our students to enable them to develop as confident, independent individuals. 

We are looking for: 

  • a specialist committed to the progress of all students in Science, who will develop and lead an exciting science curriculum which enables the highest level of student progress and attainment, and is an example of best practice for others 
  • someone to lead the Science department on a day to day basis and work with staff on developing their teaching practice and pedagogy
  • someone with enthusiasm, presence and authority who can deliver consistently good or better lessons 
  • a team member who will collaborate with colleagues to ensure the best progress for all students 
  • someone who will support the Senior Leadership Team in recruiting, inducting and developing the Science faculty to ensure consistently high aspirations and  standards.

The Burgess Hill Academy is a secondary school for 11 to 16-year olds in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. We challenge and support our pupils to believe in their best, providing an academic focus with a determination to support wellbeing and employability skills. In 2020 we have enhanced our learning environment with refurbished classrooms, science labs and outdoor areas. We offer 240 student places each year and have a total capacity of 1200.
