Work with us

We value our staff and believe well qualified, motivated individuals are vital to the success of our academies. By working for one of our academies or the trust’s central teams, you will be joining us in our aim to make long lasting improvements to the educational achievement of children in Sussex.

We believe top-quality training, continuing development and career opportunities for staff lead to the best teaching and learning for our pupils.

Our career pathway supports colleagues at all levels in their career development and facilitates succession planning and talent-spotting across the trust.

The Trust is a Disability Confident Committed employer

The Trust has signed up to Disability Confident, a government scheme to support equality and diversity in our staff recruitment practices.

Disability Confident is a voluntary scheme, which has been developed in partnership with disabled people’s representatives. It supports employers to recruit and retain people with disabilities and health conditions as they progress in their careers. It seeks to challenge misconceptions towards disability and employment, while also increasing understanding and awareness of mental and physical disabilities.

Under the Equality Act (2010), disability is defined as a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities.

As a Disability Confident Committed employer we:

  • sign-up to the Disability Confident commitments

  • undertake an activity to make a difference for people with disabilities

  • offer our assurance that applicants with disabilities, who meet the minimum criteria for a post, will be given an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities at interview.

It is the intention of the Trust to work towards level 2 of the scheme – Disability Confident Employer

Continuing professional development

We believe employees should have the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. We recognise the importance of training and development and ensure that our employees are continually strengthening their skill sets and developing as individuals.

The trust has a strong record of supporting and developing teachers who start their careers with us, including Newly Qualified Teachers, Teach First and School Direct participants, as well as student teachers from the University of Brighton and other initial teacher training providers.

Trainee teachers also benefit from networking opportunities with colleagues based at our other academies. When your training is complete, our continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities will help you sharpen your skills and learn new ones as your teaching career develops.
