Do you have the enthusiasm to help with the safe running of our Afterschool Club? 

We are seeking a calm and patient Afterschool Club Assistant. If you would like to encourage the independence and development of our children, then this could be the role for you.

We are looking for an Afterschool Club Assistant who will help to encourage our children’s development, independence, self-reliance and problem-solving skills. You will have:

  • a childcare qualification or an NVQ3 in Play work
  • experience of working with children aged 4 to 11 and the ability to relate and engage with them
  • excellent communication skills with a calm and positive approach, with patience and flexibility.

​​​​​​​As an Afterschool Club Assistant, you will actively and enthusiastically assist the Afterschool Club Leaders in the safe and organised running of the Afterschool Club. To succeed in this role, you will need to:

  • assist with providing a high-quality of activities whilst offering appropriate stimulation and support to the children 
  • assist in the preparation, serving and tidying away of snack time
  • ensure that the club is a safe environment for children, equipment is safe and that standards of hygiene are high.

West St Leonards Primary Academy is a school for 4 to 11-year olds in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex. Our Pride of West Leonards (POW) values run through all that we do; encouraging respect and tolerance and supporting our pupils to become responsible members of our community. We are a National Lead School for the Talk For Writing programme and use the Mastery Approach to teach mathematics. We have two classes in each year group and also host a special facility for up to 12 children with moderate learning difficulties and physical disabilities.
