Churchwood Primary Academy is looking to appoint an Advanced Speech and Language Therapist to work in the mainstream school and within our specialist SEN unit for pupils with ASD and associated speech and language communication needs.  This is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.   

The successful candidate will support pupils with accessing all aspects of the curriculum, as well as liaising with parents and carers and other external professionals and agencies. You will work closely with the SEN Unit Lead Teacher, SENCO and teaching staff to help to integrate therapy and learning objectives, as well as instructing and supporting support staff in delivering therapy programmes/groups and use of specialised equipment.  The role also involves completing diagnostic assessments, overseeing and devising pupils' management plans and ensuring strategies are integrated into wave one provision.

Churchwood is a one-form entry primary school situated in the picturesque setting of Church Wood in St Leonards on Sea. We have a large playing field, our own Forest School, a Woodland Playground and two acres of beautiful woodland. We have up to 300 children who are organized into single age classes including our thriving Nursery.

Churchwood Primary Academy is a school for 4 to 11-year olds in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex. We are a caring and creative school. With one class in each year group, we are able to guide and support our pupils to achieve their best. Situated in the picturesque setting of Church Wood, our pupils enjoy learning outside the classroom in our forest school, woodland playground and large playing fields. Our speech and language provision is a key strength: we have a Autism Spectrum Disorder unit for Key Stage 2 pupils and a Speech and Language therapist. We also host a nursery for children aged from 2 years.
